~ Leslie’s
Bio ~
Leslie was born July 31, 1960 in Holden, Massachusetts. The middle child of
a mother gifted in teaching and the arts; and father, a hard-working Army
officer—she was a globe traveler and striving for the center of attention by
the age of 5. With music and acting talent apparent at a very early age, she
was consistently selected to participate in choirs and plays in both church and
public arenas.
Although raised as a Christian in the
Catholic denomination, in her late teens she became the classic “prodigal”
daughter (Luke 15: 11-32)—she stopped going to
church, pretty much ignored God, and did what she wanted. The good little
Catholic girl took the wrong turn onto the ‘highway to hell’—
filled with rock-n-roll bands, immoral sex,
and drugs.
After years in that “wilderness”, Leslie
realized her foolish choice to forsake God and fellowship with a church family.
She confessed she’d been living a sin-filled, self-centered life. She asked God
for forgiveness, and asked Jesus Christ to be her Savior. (Romans 10: 8-11) She prayed to receive the Holy Spirit (John
3), and then was baptized as Jesus was. (Matthew
3: 13-17)
Leslie was now a “born again of the Spirit”
Christian! The date…July 21, 1991.
Since that salvation moment, Leslie’s new
life with the Lord has been an amazing journey and “abundant”!
She served as part-time DJ/co-host
of ‘Powerhouse’, a Christian rock formatted radio show on WCUW 91.3 FM
Community Radio/Worcester MA from 1993 until 1996.
She married husband Mike on July 26th of 1997 in Worcester
MA. In June of 1999 the Ferguson’s visited the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
They fell in love with the location, and decided to put down roots and made
the island of Hatteras their new home.
Leslie quickly established herself in the
Outer Banks community as a professional vocalist and musician, playing at local
restaurants and acoustic nightspots. She
joined the Outer Banks Wedding Association in February of 2000, offering
professional live music and DJ services for ceremonies and receptions.
It wasn’t long afterwards when Leslie sensed
God telling her to close the ‘entertaining’ chapter of her life, and use the
musical and public speaking talents He gave her in a ministry. After much
research, prayer, and Christian counsel, she became an ordained minister
with the World Christianship Church in 2002.
Leslie continues as a member in good standing with the Outer
Banks Wedding Association as a Christian minister and professional
vocalist/musician. She also uses her musical talents for outreaches to
local jails, convalescent homes, revivals and other Christian events. Leslie
presides for christenings, adult baptisms and memorials, and also offers free
biblical marriage and life counseling.
Leslie has co-hosted a monthly guest radio
spot on Rejoice 100.9FM out of Hampton Roads/Virginia
(http://www.musicalsoulfood.com/home.asp)
with
afternoon drive radio DJ Cedric Bailey. She and Cedric discussed various topics
posted on the station’s ‘Overcomer’s
Bulletin Board’ and also biblical strategies for life and marriage.
Leslie
currently is a member of
Lifeboat Community Church/Assembly of God in Salvo NC,
and holds the position of
minster/director of music.
Leslie hopes you’ve enjoyed reading about her Christian
upbringing and ministerial background. As God is the creator of marriage, she
hopes you prayerfully and carefully consider who will serve your
ministerial needs!
